Sloops, dinghies, and motorboats are often fitted with a rope fender and/or iguana for both decoration and protection. LangmanTouw is a leading manufacturer of rope fenders and iguanas. We supply these to leading shipyards both domestically and internationally.

Polypropylene yarnsFor rope fenders and iguanas, we use specially manufactured, high-quality polypropylene yarns. This material contains a high UV stabilizer that withstands sunlight. This ensures that the outer fibers of the rope remain in good condition for many years without developing a worn or frizzy appearance. This makes Langman rope fenders ideal for use in countries with high UV intensity. Langman exports them to countries with this high UV intensity.
In addition, each cable fender and iguana is provided with a unique tracking number. Our cable fenders and iguanas are custom-made for you. Based on the measurements you provide, we perform a calculation to determine the correct rope length. Our order forms, where you specify the specifications for your cable fender and/or iguana, are based on our standard delivery.

What is a cable ring?
Cable railingA rope fender is installed under the gunwale around or along the sides of the boat. To tension the rope fender, the boat must have attachment points to which the tensioning devices are connected. To keep the rope fender elevated, there must be a rim for it to rest on. There can also be two rims between which the rope fender rests. Our rope fender is laid on our own ropeway and consists of four strands with a core. A stainless steel wire rope sits at the core of the rope fender. The ends of the wire rope are fitted with an eyelet and a stainless steel sleeve. We can also fit the ends of the wire rope with stainless steel threaded ends (screw threads). For this purpose, stainless steel stud terminals are pressed onto the wire rope.
The boat's length determines the diameter of the fender. A fender should not be too thick or too thin relative to the boat. The space between the support edge below and the edge above the fender also determines the possible diameter.
Standard diameters for Langman cable rings are from 64 mm to 140 mm.
What is an iguana?
IGUANAA bow tie is usually placed at the bow of the boat. For this hand-knotted bulge, our craftsmen in the hull design department have developed a knotting technique that allows the bow tie to conform to the boat's shape. This ensures the bow tie lies flush against the boat's hull.
An iguana can be made as a loose pattern, but can also be knitted on a cable fence. The cable fence must then run along the bow.
The dimensions of an iguana are determined by the model and length of the boat and the diameter of any cable fender.
Iguanas are available from a diameter of 8 cm.
Loose iguanas are typically fitted with a few links of stainless steel chain at the ends. If there's no support for the bow, a suspension point made of a few links of stainless steel chain can be installed in the middle.
Turkish knot
A Turkish knot can be added to the bow for decoration on both a rope fender and an iguana. We recommend this only for a rounded bow. This decorative knot is also handmade. The shape and dimensions are tailored to the thickness of the rope fender or iguana.
Cable ring repair
If your cable fender isn't worn out yet, but the points are damaged, for example, you can bring your old cable fender to us for repair.
We do recommend sending a photo of the current condition of the rope fender. This allows us to quickly assess whether the damage can be repaired. You can also repair your points yourself; by ordering the original thread, you're guaranteed years of sailing enjoyment.
